Junior Teams

 

BRONZE TEAM


The Bronze Team is for students (ages 7-18) who have graduated from the Intermediate classes or can meet the following criteria: maintain a consistent full court rally, serve in the proper service box & be familiar with the volley & overhead. The student/teacher ratio is 8:1.

What do Bronze students learn? Student will learn the Eastern, Continental & Western tennis grips & when they should be used. Student will learn to improve his/her consistency & accuracy with the use of topspin, backspin & sidespin skills. Student will learn the rules & strategies involved in singles & double.

 

SILVER TEAM


The Silver Team is for students (ages 9-16) who have graduated from the Bronze team or can meet the following criteria: demonstrate each tennis grip & type of spin, successfully play singles & doubles matches & be near the top of the Bronze Team ladder. The student/teacher ratio is 8:1.

What do Silver students learn? Student will learn to add & reduce the power of each tennis shot, while improving his/her accuracy. Student will learn & master the topspin second serve. Specialty shots such as the drop volley, half volley, topspin lob & various passing shots will be developed. All students are encouraged to play for their school teams.

 

GOLD TEAM


The Gold Team is for students (ages 12-18) who have graduated from the Silver Team or can meet the following criteria: have a junior ranking in the Northern California Tennis Association or be near the top of the Silver Team ladder. The student/teacher ratio is 8:1.

What do Gold students learn? Gold students have decided to be a tennis competitor. This program is designed to help each player reach his/her potential. Workouts will focus on match strategy, footwork, conditioning, combination, shot drills, goal setting, mental imagery, coping with winning/losing & match or tournament preparation skills.
